Giving Tuesday is Dec 3rd at Conception Abbey

Conception Abbey and Tri-C Partners for Progress are teaming up again this year for Giving Tuesday.

Director of Communications at Conception Kaity Holtmann says the event is all about providing for those in need.

"Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving.  It's done all over the world and it's something we feel makes a difference here locally.  So we chose usually anywhere from 7 to 10 local families that are willing to be adopted.  And we provided them with not only gifts for their Christmas tree, but actually the Christmas tree itself.  That includes lights and Christmas ornaments and the gifts that go under the tree for Christmas morning."

Holtmann says Giving Tuesday is powered by the community.

"We have community members who come in and they handtie fleece blankets, they make Christmas ornaments.  We sign cards to send to people who are maybe in nursing homes or spending Christmas alone this year.  We have a lot of children who come with their families and they stuff teddy bears.  We also wrap all the donated items that we receive ahead of time."

Giving Tuesday is December 3rd from 6 to 8 p.m.in Saint Raphael Hall at Conception Abbey.
